SOURCES & METHODOLOGY
How M.E. Standard interprets market news.
Reporting and interpretation use the same governed evidence record.
Source hierarchy
M.E. Standard prioritises official and primary-source material. Provenance, publication time, source tier and revision identity are retained where available. Secondary discovery may locate a development, but it does not silently become primary evidence.
The governed source registry spans central banks, official statistics, treasuries, regulators, filings, competition authorities, parliamentary and court records, energy authorities and selected multilateral institutions. Coverage includes institutions such as the Federal Reserve, RBA, ECB, Bank of England, Bank of Japan, Bank of Canada, Swiss National Bank, Sveriges Riksbank, Norges Bank, SEC/EDGAR and SEC press releases, BLS, BEA, ABS, U.S. and Australian Treasury sources, ASIC, ACCC, APRA, CFTC, FCA, ESMA, the U.S. FTC, U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division, Council of the European Union, U.S. Department of Energy, EIA, BIS, USTR and the WTO. ACCC News Centre material is ingested through its official RSS feed with source attribution retained. Official company-publisher coverage is also active where a stable machine-readable route is available, including NVIDIA, Apple and Broadcom; publishers whose investor-relations endpoints restrict or do not expose a dependable server-side feed remain explicitly gated rather than scraped around those controls. A source is shown as live only when the configured transport is healthy; licence- or access-restricted sources such as ASX announcements and the ASIC company register remain explicitly gated.
Fact versus interpretation
FACT, ANALYSIS, SCENARIO and UNCERTAINTY are separate information classes. Light / Editorial presentation emphasises reporting and comprehension. Dark / Intelligence exposes the deeper interpretation, transmission, risk, scenarios, historical context and evidence without changing the underlying facts.
Economic calendar
When a licensed consensus calendar is not connected, M.E. Standard uses official decision schedules from the Federal Reserve, RBA, ECB, Bank of England, Bank of Canada and RBNZ, together with BLS, BEA and ABS release schedules. The calendar publishes verified dates, local-time conversion, impact class, currency, source and countdown. ABS future releases are refreshed dynamically from its official month-specific release calendar with a governed fallback if that route is temporarily unavailable. After publication, qualifying BLS, BEA and ABS releases are deterministically reconciled to scheduled events so verified Actual and prior-release context can be displayed. Consensus forecasts remain blank unless a licensed source supplies them.
Official reference market data
Where executable or streaming market data is unavailable, M.E. Standard may show clearly labelled official reference observations. The free reference layer uses European Central Bank daily foreign-exchange reference rates, U.S. Treasury daily par-yield-curve data and U.S. Energy Information Administration weekly petroleum supply statistics. Treasury reference data also supports transparent 2s10s and 5s30s curve-spread calculations. Derived FX crosses are labelled as derived. Reference observations are not presented as live, executable or broker-quality quotes.
Market observations
Observed market response requires a provenanced provider, instrument and observation time. Expected sensitivity, inference and historical relationships are not relabelled as observations. Meridian remains chart and market-visualisation authority where integrated.
Risk and confidence
Risk severity and confidence are independent. A high-severity risk can have weak evidence, and a low-severity development can be supported by strong evidence. M.E. Standard does not collapse these dimensions into one synthetic certainty score.
Transmission states
Event relationships remain explicitly labelled as OBSERVED, EXPECTED, INFERRED, HISTORICAL, CONTRADICTED or UNRESOLVED. These states are not interchangeable and are never upgraded by presentation styling.
Scenarios
Scenario Monitor presents conditional paths, assumptions, catalysts and invalidation. Numerical probability is omitted unless a governed methodology is attached. A scenario is not a forecast and does not create trade authority.
Market Memory
Historical analogues are compared across explicit dimensions and sample discipline. Differences and limitations are shown alongside similarities. Historical context does not imply recurrence and is protected by anti-hindsight replay rules.
Corrections and source revisions
M.E. Standard corrections and upstream source revisions remain separate lineages. Material updates propagate through the affected interpretation while preserving the prior record. See the Corrections Policy.
Unavailable evidence
Missing licensed data, unavailable providers, insufficient historical samples and unresolved causal evidence fail closed. M.E. Standard does not manufacture market observations, confidence, probabilities or historical support to fill an empty interface.
Authority boundary
M.E. Standard owns editorial and intelligence interpretation. Meridian owns market/chart visualisation where integrated. M.E. Standard does not publish personalised trading signals or guaranteed outcomes; signalAuthority:false and autoPublish:false remain governing boundaries.
